The Project Background

Learning and Skills for Life, (formerly called the Kyela Orphan Support Programme) is a project that is supported by the TMT UK specifically at improving educational opportunities for orphans and disadvantaged children and young people. Under the leadership of OMC the LSFL Tanzania project will support the remaining 206 orphans and disadvantaged children from Kyela District, who were formerly registered by The Mango Tree, and who are attending secondary school (O-level & A-level), Tertiary College, and University. In included partnering with 11 secondary schools: Kyela High School, Katumbasongwe, Nkuyu, Itope, Ipande, Kajunjumele, Bujonde, Ikimba, Ikolo, Ngonga and Ikama, as well as various A’ Level secondary schools, Colleges and Universities.

Learning & Skills for Life in Tanzania offers a variety of educational initiatives and programs for our enrolled orphans,as well as other underprivileged children and youth residing in the rural regions of Kyela. These initiatives encompass means-tested educational scholarships, additional academic support, and access to library services.

The Mango Tree UK, in collaboration with OMC and subsequently with Kids Club Kampala, has agreed to form a partnership aimed at assisting a total of 289 orphaned students in Tanzania. Upon successfully completing their secondary education with our sponsorship, these students become part of our community service mentoring scheme.

The Organization for Matumaini Communities (OMC) emerges as a recent, steadfast collaborator dedicated to upholding the Learning and Skills for Life project in Tanzania. The Mango Tree UK is thrilled to engage with the Organization of Matumaini Communities (OMC) through this partnership. OMC's involvement will play a crucial role in ensuring that all remaining orphaned youth supported by TMT attain a comprehensive education. This endeavor is conducted under the auspices of the Anglican Diocese of Morogoro.
